Our Story

Rooted in Bristol, growing with nature

North & Moss Gardens was founded on a simple belief: that gardens should be beautiful, functional, and genuinely good for the planet. We've spent over a decade proving that ecology and design can go hand in hand.

How It Began

From a single garden to a Bristol institution

What started as a passion project — transforming a neglected allotment into a thriving wildlife haven — grew into North & Moss Gardens. Our founder, frustrated by the conventional landscaping industry's reliance on pesticides, peat, and concrete, set out to prove there was a better way.

Today, we're a team of horticulturists, landscape builders, and designers working across Bristol and the South West. Every garden we plant is 100% peat-free, every material is chosen for its low environmental impact, and every design starts with the question: how can this space give back to nature?

We've grown, but our philosophy hasn't changed: work with the land, not against it. Build soil first. Plant for pollinators. And create gardens that get better with every passing year.

Our Eco Philosophy

Four principles, every project

Peat-Free

Always. Every plant, every pot, every bag of compost. Protecting peatlands is non-negotiable.

Wildlife First

Every garden includes habitat features — from pollinator plants to log piles and mini-ponds.

Local & Reclaimed

We source materials locally and use reclaimed stone and timber wherever possible.

Soil First

Healthy soil is the foundation of every garden. We test, feed, and protect the living ecosystem beneath our feet.
